Haven for Humanity (H4H) has closely followed the progress of Senate Bill 12 (SB 12), introduced by Senator Lena Gonzalez to establish a California Immigrant and Refugee Affairs Agency. After months of momentum and widespread community support, we have learned today, June 23, 2025, that SB 12 will not advance further in the legislature.
While this outcome is deeply concerning, H4H expresses its gratitude to all community members, organizations, and partners who rallied behind the bill, submitted letters of support, and raised awareness for immigrant and refugee rights. Your voices made a powerful impact and demonstrated the importance of unified advocacy.
